FREE Beautifully Brave Mother’s Day Printable!

Beautifully Brave, FREE Tribute to Moms Printable | Faith and Composition

Today I am so excited to share that I have teamed up with my lovely friend, Teresa of Hugs & Punches to bring you a darling FREE printable inspired by Wednesday’s post:

Beautifully Brave – A Tribute to Moms (be sure to hop over and read it; it will encourage your heart!).

(The links to download are at the bottom of the post.)

When I originally wrote the post, I wanted it to be larger than just this blog. I wanted the words to reach as many readers as possible. So I reached out to my precious friend, Teresa, and we were excited to collaborate. She designed this beautiful printable to feature some of the words, and I am so glad she brought her talent to this work! Because as you can see from the printable and the styling of the images, Teresa sees abundant beauty in the midst of the everyday.

In addition to bringing you this art print and card, I also wanted to highlight a few women who are living examples of #BeautifullyBrave motherhood. And in honor of Mother’s Day, won’t you do the same? Recognize a few Beautifully Brave moms in your own life (your sister, mom, best friend, neighbor) and encourage them by sharing to the #BeautifullyBrave hashtag. Because we all long for a little recognition in this incredible motherhood journey!

First up, Megan Burns over at She Does Justice has the most remarkable heart for empowering women to make a difference.

Her sewing business has transformed into a way to fight for change in the 5 areas that Christ is leading their hearts: adoption, empowering young women, healthcare in Africa, orphan prevention, and anti-sex trafficking.

Check out her shop (t-shirts, boho turbans, wraps for your oils, etc) where 10% of their gross sales go to support these organizations and further their amazing work … and YOU get to choose where it goes!

As I mentioned above, Teresa is my dear blog friend, who I had the pleasure of meeting at Hope Spoken this year. She instantly became a kindred spirit, and I know you’ll love her too! Teresa has a beautiful blog, and a stunning family!

Teresa of Hugs and Punches, a #BeautifullyBrave mom | Faith and Composition

The mother of six, she and her husband have two biological children and four they have adopted from Ethiopia. Her stories of her children will break your heart in all the right ways and inspire you to see the bigger picture of family. She is a brilliant advocate for adoption and for stepping out in faith when the Lord leads. She’s also currently working on a book, titled Beautifully Interrupted. Go follow her. Trust me!

And next, the lovely Kristin Schmucker is a Beautifully Brave mama to three girls: one is in heaven and two are in her arms. She blogs over at her namesake blog, where she’s currently in the midst of a May Scripture Challenge.

Kristin’s passion is leading women toward a life of intentional simplicity and growing them in the Word.

I hope you and the moms in your life love these printables!

Stick ‘em somewhere with washi tape, as Teresa did…or slide it on into a frame and give one as a gift! May they lift your spirits, encourage your heart, and remind that you indeed are anything but normal. You are Beautifully Brave!

Beautifully Brave – A Tribute to Moms

Beautifully Brave - A Tribute to Moms | Faith and Composition

They call you Mom. You with the baby on your hip or the toddler at your feet. You with the towering sons or the growing-too-fast girls. Or you with the can’t-believe-he’s-in-college student or the they-have-babies-of-their-own-now children.

Mom. A simple three-letter-word. So easy in it’s simplicity that it is one of the first they learn to speak. A word not bound by economic, racial, or geographical constraints. One simple syllable.

And there are those who will tell you that the task is simple too. That the job is not to be valued highly. It’s just diaper changing, meal making, laundry folding, disagreement negotiating. At least, that’s what some will say.

But here’s the truth:

Beautifully Brave - A Tribute to Moms | Faith and Composition

You are a mom, and you are beautifully brave. You who gave of your body to give life. You who opened arms and doors to give a home to the orphan. You who loved and remember with fierce abandon the irreplaceable beauty of a fleeting life.

You are a beautifully brave mom, forever marked by the indelible imprint of a child.

You who sacrifice sleep and showers, time and talent. You who shape ideas, mold personalities, raise a generation. You who speak truth, encourage aspirations, teach compassion, model grace, exhibit beauty. You who walk through autism, cancer, miscarriage, sickness, and health. You who look past the mess and the mire to reveal the beauty within.

When reality is harsh and circumstances have a way of crushing hopes and dreams, you are a safe harbor, a shelter from the storm.

When the world threatens to steal and seduce the affections of the innocent, you go to battle for hearts and minds.

And when wings sprout and the tethers begin to fade, you swallow the heartache and release the ties that bind while cheering and supporting this miracle of growth.

Beautifully Brave - A Tribute to Moms | Faith and Composition

You are a mom in all its grit and glory, and there is nothing ordinary in this task. There are instead the beautifully brave markings of selfless sacrifice, worn-out prayer knees, hours of night watch, poured out affections, endurance through trials, and an unwavering love that holds steadfast.

So carry on brave one. Carry on through the laughter and the tears, the joy and the hardships, the majestic and the mundane. Carry on through the late nights and the early mornings. Stay faithful to this task of raising a generation, shaping hearts, molding character. For though the world may see a simple mom, we see you.

We see you testifying to truth, extending grace, loving without reserve. We see you nurturing hearts, mending broken pieces, tending tear-stained cheeks. We see you through the monotonous and we see you in the miraculous.

For you are anything but normal. You are beautifully brave. You are Mom!

*If this post spoke to you, please consider sharing. I would be so honored! And if you know a Beautifully Brave mom, won’t you reach out to her, and extend to her the words that she so desperately needs to hear? Encourage her in this bold, brave calling! Tag her in social media, and then post to the hashtag #beautifullybrave. Because all these beautifully brave moms—you, your sister, your mom, your best friend … the unsung heroes who do this sacred task without much recognition—need to know that they are seen. They need to know that they are beautifully brave!

Mother’s Day Gift Round-Up

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I’m excited to share some curated gift offerings from some of my favorite bloggers and dear friends. Whether you’re looking for a gift for your own mother, sister, friend, or you’re trying to drop a few hints regarding something you’d like for yourself, these eight hand-selected wares are beautiful and inspiring.

COLLECTION 1

Mothers Day Gift Round Up | Faith and Composition
Collection 1, Clockwise from top left:
1) New “Spring Showers” print collection by artist Emily Jeffords, a set of three 5×7 canvas prints printed on flat fine art quality printing canvas and hand-cut in studio. I have a few of Emily’s prints, and they are spectacular.
2) Hand-poured soy wax Citrus Basil Candle from the lovely Kristin Schmucker. Kristin admits this is one of her favorite scents, and I think it sounds nearly perfect. Be sure to browse her entire shop. Everything she offers is just beautiful.
3) Love Mercy slouchy V-neck tee from She Does Justice‘s new summer line. This tee is part of the Micah 6:8 series, and I adore the bright pop of pink with the gold text. She Does Justice partners with organizations that
fight for change in the areas of adoption, empowering young women, healthcare in Africa, orphan prevention, & anti-sex trafficking. Your purchase helps to support these efforts.
4) These All The Things I Love About You journal cards are the loveliest way to send sweet sentiments. Designed by my friend, Karen Stott, the words written inside these journals will be treasured for years to come. With Father’s Day in the near future, they’d also be a great gift for a dad or husband.

COLLECTION 2

Mothers Day Gift Round Up | Faith and Composition
Collection 2, Clockwise from top left:
1) I am smitten with this Love Writes a Beautiful Story tee, and Mom will be as well, since any mother knows that love indeed writes a beautiful story. Designed by Kelli+Vanessa, this tee reminds us of the legacy we are writing as mothers.
2) This Saved by Grace mug by ChalkFullOfLove features a hand-lettered design that speaks of glorious truth. It’s perfect for that first cup of coffee or a late-in-the-afternoon pick-me-up, something all moms need every now and then!
3) These Rashmi Earrings by Noonday Collection are absolutely stunning. Their understated, demure design can be dressed up or down. And when you purchase from Noonday, you are helping to create jobs in impoverished areas and empowering those in need to create dignified work and earn sustainable, reliable incomes.
4) The Fringe Hours by Jessica Turner gives women the permission to “let go of laundry … and Savor some time for yourself.” It is a refreshing approach to learning how to recapture pockets of time so you can pursue the gifts and passions God has gifted you.

Have a blessed day, sweet friends! I’ll be back on Wednesday with a beautiful Mother’s Day tribute post to all of you moms. So please be sure to check back then or watch your inbox if you’re a subscriber, because this is a post you won’t want to miss. I guarantee you it will encourage your spirit and buoy your heart regarding this hard, sanctifying, glorious work of mothering.

A Look Back, Plus the Top Posts of 2014

Top Six Posts of 2014 | Faith and Composition

I can hardly believe 2014 is coming to a close. The older I get, the more I understand how true it is that the days are long but the years are short. It is somewhat startling to reflect on this past year and realize just how quickly it has all passed by.

So in honor of this past year and in anticipation for what the new year holds, I wanted to take a moment to look back at some of the top moments right here on F&C. Although I launched this little blog in the spring of 2013, 2014 was the year that F&C really began to find its voice. This was the year that my focus centered and my heart rested on the content I longed to share … this was the year I gave voice to the words burning inside.

And this was the year you read them! You read my words, and then you kept coming back. In fact, throughout the year, this space was viewed more 660,000 times from across 190 countries! It is incredibly humbling and immensely encouraging to write that statistic. And it’s all because of you! So thank you! Thank you for stopping in, for taking a minute to browse, for absorbing what overflows from my heart. I write because of you … I write to encourage you, to inspire you, to remind you that you’re not alone in this incredible calling of motherhood. And I write because I feel a kinship with so many of you, even though many of us have never met. I feel the friendship in your comments, and I sense a bond despite the width and breadth that separates us. And so I hope and pray that in this coming year, you will return to this space time and again so we can walk alongside one another and find support and encouragement in the shared journey.

But for now, take a moment to look back at the top six most-viewed posts of 2014. I hope you’ll find immense encouragement bubbling up from these pages! (Clickable links for each article are below the image.)

Top Six F&C Posts of 2014 | Faith and Composition

  1. When Mothering is Hard and No One Sees (this is the most-viewed content on F&C to date)
  2. A Letter to My Husband on His Birthday
  3. When the Little Years are Fleeting and Their Needs Never-Ending
  4. 13 Life Lessons from a Mother to Her Son
  5. To Fellow Mamas of Multiple Little Ones
  6. How to Love a Husband When You Feel You’ve Nothing Left to Give

O Come Let Us Adore Him, FREE iPhone Wallpaper

FREE O Come Let Us Adore HIm iPhone wallpaper | Faith and Composition

Christmas is nearly upon us, and I can hardly believe it. There’s still so much I have to do … remaining presents to buy, still more to wrap, cookies to bake, and meals to plan. And yet, in the hustle and bustle of these last few days before THE day, I really just want to slow down and savor HIM.

So come with me, take a deep breath, and still your heart for a minute. Rest in the incredible miracle that this season celebrates: the awaited birth of our Savior. He was born so that He might die for you and for me … my soul can’t begin to contain such hope, such grace, such beauty!

FREE O Come Let Us Adore HIm iPhone wallpaper | Faith and Composition

Let’s turn away from the chaos, if only for a moment, and choose to simply adore Him. If you’d like this reminder at your fingertips, I’ve created an iPhone lock screen and wallpaper to celebrate the season. You can download your own image here. (Image is optimized for iPhone, but I bet it will work with other phones as well!) Simply download the image, and then save it to your phone’s camera roll. When setting the image as your wallpaper, you’ll need to turn “perspective zoom” off, then pinch the picture to scale it down to fit the frame. Make sense? I hope you enjoy!

(Also, if you’ve yet to start an Advent reading, consider jumping into the SheReadsTruth Advent plan. Because although it may be mid-December, it’s never too late to let the word of truth penetrate your heart. I promise, it will bless your spirit! The girls over at SRT can really speak the word!)
